Salem Bible Church Launches a New Building Program
At its meeting in January, the congregation voted to approve a new Building Program to consolidate our church and school activities. There are four major goals:
1. Add additional space
2. Bring the grade school and Sunday children's activities under one roof
3. Consolidate the High School classes in the gym area
4. Convert the Old Church to a Youth Center
The Building Program has several parts:
1. Convert the wasted space above the hallway along the auditorium by extending the adjoining 2nd floor rooms over it. This will allow the existing toddler room and teacher's lounge to be used as classrooms. The office between them will become a teacher's lounge. This project is funded and will occur this summer if we can get all the approvals in a timely manner. (Completed 10/08)
2. Convert the Old Church to a Youth Center. Rearrange main building and gym room use to accomodate all children's school and Sunday School activities. This will happen by the start of the 2008 - 2009 school year. (Completed 10/08)
3. As money becomes available, build a 10,000 square foot, two story addition to the North (parking lot) side of the Gym. This project will start by building an unfinished (shell) structure with the intent of using volunteer labor to install and finish the interior. When completed, this addition will provide a new Chapel, a new home for Junior Church and four new classrooms. The classrooms will be used for adult sunday school and high school classes.
