Life Groups
What are Life Groups?
Salem Bible Church encourages involvement in Life Groups! Life Groups provide a context for enriching community and spiritual growth. They are the local expression of Salem Bible Church through members' homes.
We take our cues from the early church in Acts 2:42 - 47 who "devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching [we study the Scripture together] and fellowship [we build real, safe, life-giving relationships by 'doing life' together] . . . and prayer [coming alongside one-another in prayer]". Life Groups provides the context for discipleship as we invest in one another and encourage one another to be more like Christ.
Life Groups are also a venue for outreach. We encourage an "open seat" policy. We invite friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc., to visit and experience Christian community while hearing the good news of Jesus Christ.
A Life Group is a place to help one another fulfill Jesus' words: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
WHEN DO LIFE GROUPS MEET?
Generally Life Groups meet every other week; some meet monthly depending on the members' availability.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Groups are generally 10 to 15 members and can be a mix of age groups or comprised of people from a similar life stage. The smaller size of Life Group gives the opportunity to build relationships which would be difficult to do during Sunday worship alone.
WHERE DO YOU MEET?
Most groups meet in leaders' homes but are not limited to that venue. The home provides a backdrop for safe relationships and the building of community.
